List of items on Amazon. You only need one of the things from each row. I separated them with the best things on the right the cheapest on the left. The exception is filter discs and lid which are dependent on the size of jars that you have. Some columns only have one item as well as that is good, better, and best all in one.

This is the most expensive item. If you need to save money and have time you could probably find one at a thrift store. But these prices aren’t bad and an All American will last more or less forever. I have one that is 100 years old and still works great.

Quart Mason JarsYou could use either of these you like. I prefer the Wide Mouth. These could be cheaper locally since they are heavy
Plastic LidsJust make sure you get the right size of plastic lids for wide or regular mouth jars.
Filter Discs Just make sure you get the right size of filter discs for wide or regular mouth jars.
Injection PortsThe only difference here is quanity. These will be hard to find locally and this is a good price
 Power Drill

You will need a power drill to make the hole in the lids. If you have one any will work. I just can’t bring myself to recommend a cheap one. I think if you are going to buy one it should be a good one.

 7/16 Inch Drill Bit

 

Any 7/16 drill bit will work You will only need the one bit out of the set. You could probably get it for $8 for the one locally or get this whole set for a little more.
 5 Gallon BucketAny 5 Gallon Bucket will work.You can almost certainly find one cheaper locally. Mcdonalds, Burger King, and Jimmy Johns will all give you some free if you ask.
 Cheese ClothCheesecloth can also be found at most supermarkets, but this is a good price compared to what I have seen locally.
 Rubbing AlcoholYou can use any rubbing alcohol as well. It can be anything that is 70% and up
 Jet Dry This is a huge bottle that will last you forever even if you use it in your dishwasher as well
 Birdseed This is a good mix. If you want to find birdseed look for one that doesn’t have many sunflower seeds. I also like it when they have less corn but that isn’t as important.
 Peat Moss This is a suprisingly good deal with shipping included. Locally a Garden Center would be the place to check.
 TubsWhat you want here is a tub that is not over 12 inches tall. It should be much wider and longer than it is tall. This is to keep the humidity high.
 Vermiculite This stuff isn’t a bad price. You might be able to find it at a garden center as well.
Room Heater You need a heater with a thermostat. This one can be set digitally on the unit which is nice. Otherwise you would also need a thermometer.
Distilled WaterMake sure it is DISTILLEDDo yourself and the UPS guy a favor and buy this locally.
Hydrated LimeThis can be found in well stocked garden stores. Make sure it is HYDRATED Lime
Crushed Oyster ShellsThis can be found at farm stores if you live in a rural area.
